Writer's Block: Take me back
I Can’t Make You Love Me, by Bonnie Raitt. The lyrics fit my recollection of a bad situation after it was over. While it was going on, my feeling was totally different. I was more inclined to think, “Hell yeah, I can make you love me, or else this is not going to end well for anyone!”
But looking back on it, I knew I felt the power although the other person didn’t, and I knowingly pretended otherwise just to try to enjoy savoring the moment and to fix it in my memory for when it would be no more.
Fortunately, since it was a long time ago, I can now use the alternative lyrics: “I’ll close my eyes, then I won’t see, your rotting head, up in that tree…”

What are your favorite feel-good things in life — things that always make you smile?
Getting really drunk and feeling really communal. Also, thinking of funny things when I’m really drunk. I wish I had a drink and a barstool and a lot of other barstools, with people sitting on them and talking loudly over hi-nrg dance music.
Your best friend calls you and tells you he's really sick?
I would leave them alone. If I were sick I wouldn’t want someone bothering me trying to help me, and I certainly wouldn’t want them to see me if I looked a mess.
I might check if there was anything in particular they intended to leave me when they were gone, and if they had put it in writing. It always helps to make sure that others have planned ahead.
Thousands of Sky Lanterns Light the Night

Eleven thousand sky lanterns were released into the night sky on June 21, 2011, in Poznan, Poland, to celebrate Midsummer Night. The event was promoted on Facebook as “Poznan’s most romantic night”. People were invited to come and buy paper lanterns (for about $1.80) and release them into the sky after lighting their fuel and letting the hot air take them up and away.
The event was scheduled to start at 10:30 pm and around 1000 of these Chinese lanterns were released all at once. Within an hour an additional 10,000 were gradually released, creating an impressive image of thousands of lights in the Polish sky.
